Instructor Training
Instructor Training is a course of study and educational discipline to prepare a licensed cosmetologist to become a qualified instructor in a licensed school of cosmetology.
Course Objectives
Upon the completion of this course the student will have acquired the ability to pass the State Board of Cosmetology examination, become a licensed instructor, and have the capability to:

Supervise the clinic floor;

Construct lesson plans;

Teach different subjects in the professional field; and

Manage a cosmetology school.
Instructor trainees observe, plan, prepare, present and evaluate. Effective teaching skills are gained through working with licensed instructors and counseling sessions.

Merrell University students learn by observing demonstrations, audio-visual aids, attending lectures on a wide range of subjects and with actual hands-on practical techniques. Upon completion of the course, students will have acquired the technical abilities and academic theories that meet the requirements of the Missouri State Board of Cosmetology. After obtaining licensure, Merrell University offers assistance with job placement in an entry-level position. Classes are held Wednesday through Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a 30-minute lunch period.
